Ivan Lai is a machine learning practitioner with a Ph.D. in Statistics - time-series analysis and forecasting with Kalman filters (Bayesian dynamic linear models).

Having worked with gigantic data sets (in excess of 2 billion records), he strives for algorithm efficiency in solutions and data pipeline design. He has hands-on experience in fine-tuning recent transformer-based deep learning models on Google TPUs through various projects.

 

Keen to explore new techniques and ideas in work as well as in life, he believes this is what makes our journeys on earth interesting. A fair weather cyclist, he has nonetheless braved the driving Scottish rain one summer night on pitch dark roads, on a quest to cycle the full length and breath of Great Britain, his adopted homeland.
